Its been a year of “unprecedented times” and I won’t start on political or Covid-19 banter. I am tired of that conversation! We have had many, many obstacles and changes in our routines in the boating world. we’ve made the best of our circumstances.
As of late, I’d like to reflect on the latest Bahamas cruising requirements as many vessels this season seem to be trending toward Florida Keys and Bahamas itineraries.
ANYONE entering Bahamian waters is required to undergo a PCR Covid-19 test (I used Lab Doctor current rate $179.00 USD) within 5 days before entering the country. Those results should then be uploaded and applied for travel visa and “Covid Insurance” ($60) accessible at: travel.gov.bs You’ll re required to upload passport and travel information as well as trip dates and destination, all typical of the classic bahamas entry forms. Cruising permits for vessels 35′ – 100′ are now $600 USD.
Usually the PCR test results are returned in 12-48-72 hours and visa returned within 45 minutes. Not impossible but just one further obstacle in cruising life.
